Ugandan Independence Day
The Republic of Uganda is an east African country located on the African continent and celebrates its independence day on October 9th. The flag colors consist of six equal horizontal bands of black representing the African people, yellow for the African sunshine and red representing the connection with Africans across the continent. The grey crowned crane in the flag’s center is known for its gentle nature and was also the military badge of Ugandan soldiers during British rule. The raised leg of the crane symbolizes the forward movement of the country.
